Breaking News: Twins’ Francisco Liriano Pitches First No-Hitter of 2011

Picture

Francisco Liriano pitched his first complete game Tuesday night. It also happened to be his first no-hitter, although not the cleanest of games. Liriano walked 6 and only struck out 2 against the White Sox. Fittingly, he was matched up against Edwin Jackson who threw a no-hitter last year and walked 8.

This was a huge bounceback for Liriano who previous to tonight had lost 4 of his first 5 games. He lowered his ERA from 9.13 to 6.61.

Liriano’s fantasy trade value will skyrocket after tonight and the window is clearly closed to get a bargain.
