Fantasy Baseball Daily Fix, June 19, 2012: Dickey Dazzles Again, Hill Cycles In Milwaukee
The RA Dickey story continues as he one hit the Orioles last night, the knuckle baller was dealing and came away with 13 K's. Dickey is ranked an amazing number 3 overall in the Yahoo! game, this is an incredible story, although now might be a wise time to sell high.
The other incredible feat of the night was accomplished by none other than Aaron Hill of the D-Backs. Hill went 4-of-4 to complete the second cycle of the season. Hill hasn't had a great season but has been better than some expected, maybe this kick starts a nice little tear by the second basemen.
Is it finally the time where Lonnie Chisenhall realizes his potential? The third basemen went 3-of-4 from the plate on Monday night and came away with a HR (3) and three RBI to show for it. Chisenhall has never lived up to his immense potential but with increased playing time of late could be doing so as we speak.
The Mighty Ducks had the Bash Brothers and maybe it's about time we start calling the Blue Jays power hitters the Mash Brothers. Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion respectively hit their 20th and 18th homers of the season. Not to mention Brett Lawrie hit just his sixth, maybe he's finally waking up from his season long slumber.
I think it's now safe to say that anybody talking early season smack about the demise of the Yankees and the uprising of the Orioles has now learned better. The Yankees continue to tear with their 10th straight win and it's translating over for fantasy owners as well.
C.C. Sabathia rung up 10 on the night and one would think a hot stretch is in his near future. Meanwhile the bats have come alive as Mark Teixeira jacked his 12th of the season and Robinson Cano his 13th.
With some pending bad news about Brandon Beachy and a reported trip to Dr. James Andrews, one would think that Mike Minor is all but locked in the rotation for the Braves for the rest of the season.
Thankfully he's been better of late, after two solid starts in a row he didn't fare as well against the Yankees but did manage to whiff seven. It's a sign of good things to come so long as he can keep his control in check.
The entire Cubs lineup went off against their crosstown rival the White Sox last night. They racked up a whopping five round trippers. Alfonso Soriano continues his tear with his 13th, LaHair also hit his 13th, Castro his 6th, Soto his 4th and Valbuena his 2nd.
The handshakes of the night were made by: Chris Perez (22), John Axford (12), Santiago Casilla (19), Joe Nathan (14), and Xavier Cedeno (1).
Matchup of the Day
Brandon McCarthy against the Dodgers. Look for all the talk about his injuries and his shoulder what has the guy done this season? Gone out their and dealt every single time he touched the mound. If your lucky enough to be in a league where he was cut loose with those pending shoulder issues the past couple of weeks scoop him and start him ASAP.
Link of the Day
This is some seriously heavy stuff but the good people over at Fan Graphs are doing some serious Saber work. Check out this article on shifts and correlating BAPIP, interesting from both a fantasy and real life standpoint.
