Fantasy Football Week 8: Colts Vs. Texans Monday Night Football Preview

Picture

The last time these two teams met, Houston exercised all kinds of demons and beat down the Colts.  It was an interesting game because Peyton Manning had a great statistical game and Matt Schaub was a non-factor, yet the Texans still had a comfortable victory.  The star of that game… one Arian Foster, who ran for 231 yards and three touchdowns. We could see a very similar game this time around as the Houston passing defense is especially putrid and the Colts come in banged up with Austin Collie, Dallas Clark and Jospeh Addai all out.

Even worse for fantasy owners is that we don’t really know if Mike Hart or Donald Brown will get the bulk of Addai’s carries.

So exactly what can we count on?  Lots of throwing to Pierre Garcon and Reggie Wayne.

It will also be very interesting to see if Dallas Clark’s replacement, Jacob Tamme, can fill those big shoes. After all, when Tamme was drafted in ’08, he was proclaimed as a Dallas Clark clone. Peyton Manning has always made stars out of complete blackness, so if Tamme puts up decent numbers tonight, it wouldn’t be shocking if he is one of the most added players next week.

On the flip side, the Colts are very generous to opposing running backs, and Arian Foster has already proven he is more than capable of taking advantage of a generous defense. Thus far,  Matt Schaub has been a bit of disappointment, but he is coming off his best game of the season and the Colts passing defense is very middle of the road.

Throw in the fact that Andre Johnson has had some time to rest his ankle and Owen Daniels continues to heal from last year’s injury and Schaub has all his targets at near full strength for the first time this season.

Expect a high scoring game in this battle for first place in the very stout AFC South (every team is .500 or better).  It is hard to imagine the Colts would go 0-3 to start division play in this division they have dominated.  Throw in the fact that they are playing in prime time at home and you can expect a Colts victory.
