It is on to Week 6 of Daily Fantasy Football at DraftKings. I’m back again this week to offer my picks for the Tight End position at DraftKings. We are missing our patron Saint (get it…) this week, but we’ve got a lot of others to choose from, including a plethora of options below $4,000. I’m going to say either pay up for one of the big guys this week or go as cheap as you can. Let’s see what there is to choose from for the Week 6 DFS slate.

This is a great week to check out DraftKings and pick up a new way to play fantasy football.

DraftKings Tight End Recommendations

If you’ve never played on DraftKings before, you can get a deposit bonus by signing up. And there are different options to pick from at DraftKings for any skill level.

Also, a gentle reminder on the scoring for Tight Ends – this is a PPR site so remember that when selecting players. The full scoring for Tight Ends is at the end of this column.

Tight Ends can also be used in the flex position at DraftKings. However, with the entire world of RBs and WRs at your disposal, it would be unlikely you’d have to head to the TEs to pick up a flex play.

Let’s take a look at a couple of options at each price point. For those who are new to the column, I’ll generally look at a couple of options in each pricing tier broken out based on the socioeconomic status of 1970s sitcom families. And I’ll always cover Jimmy Graham.

I’ll mention Football Outsiders a lot over the season – the passes per game and yards per game stats I use are from Football Outsiders. Here is the link to Football Outsiders’ 2013 stats. FO stats for 2014 are here and I like to use the defense versus types of receivers to fill out my rosters.

Teams on bye: Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints – Nooooo!!! We lost two of the better TEs this season so we may have to dig a bit deeper.

The Graham Tier

Jimmy Graham | Saints – On bye. Don’t go looking for him, he ain’t around these parts.

The Jeffersons

Julius Thomas | Broncos | $6,700 – Thomas is back on the list as the highest priced TE this week. He faces the Jets (22nd ranked defense against TEs so far this year) who gave up two TDs last week to Antonio Gates. Thomas is a stud and paying for him is certainly a viable option again this week against a dysfunctional Jets’ team.

Greg Olsen | Panthers | $5,700 – Olsen had two TDs last week and waltzes into another great matchup. He injured his ankle in last week’s game but looks like he should be OK for this Sunday.

Delanie Walker | Titans | $5,300 – Walker’s price shot up this week, but his matchup is great as he gets the poor Jags defense. The one caveat on Walker involves who QBs the Titans. If Charlie Whitehurst or Jake Locker are under center, I have full confidence in Walker as those guys both like to check down often. However, if rookie Zach Mettenberger gets the nod, I might be a bit reticent to put Walker in my lineup as Mettenberger is more of a bomber who lacks the accuracy to fully take advantage of Walker.

All in the Family

Both Owen Daniels ($4,300) of the Ravens and Heath Miller ($3,900) of the Steelers have good matchups. However, both matchups are on the road and both the Ravens and Steelers are much poorer options on the road than at home. I’d rather go down the line to the el cheapo guapo options below than risk with these two offenses on the road even with good matchups for the TEs.

Good Times

There is still a lot of value and a few new names to check out.

Jason Witten | Cowboys | $3,600 – Witten has been steady but disappointing this year as it looks like he’s finally slowing down a bit and being called on to block a bit more. He’s topped 10 points only once in the first five weeks, but he gets a favorable matchup this week against the Seahawks. It will be interesting to see how the Cowboys attack the Seahawks as they have a stout run defense. They could look to Witten in the shorter range passing game instead of running DeMarco Murray down their throats.

Larry Donnell | Giants | $3,500 – Donnell had only one target and no catches last week – quite a difference from his three TD performance in Week 4. The Eagles are good against the TE this year, but they’ve given up the most passing TDs this season. I can see the Giants trying to get Donnell involved again in the offense this week.

Jordan Reed | Washington | $3,200 – Reed didn’t make it back last week, but it looks like he’s going to be out on the field for Week 6. And what do we have here, but a matchup with the awful Cardinals defense (at least against TEs). He’s a high risk play, but in GPPs you need to go against the grain.

Luke Willson | Seahawks | $3,000 – Willson was supposed to be in this column last week, but for some reason I put Zach Miller in here (who of course is injured). Willson is back again this week with a meaty matchup against the worst team versus TEs this year. Last week, the Seahawks used Russell Wilson to defeat Washington. Perhaps this is the week they try to take advantage of Willson’s athleticism and the Cowboys’ poor (and injured) LB corps.
